What is Mentor Coaching?

What you can expect

In Mentor Coaching, you can expect an appreciative, resource-orientated development space that is tailored to your individual goals and needs.

You will experience Mentor Coaching as a lively, individual process that focuses on your own resources and potential rather than relying on ready-made solutions.

At the beginning and end of the programme, we evaluate your development together using a structured questionnaire – for maximum transparency and measurable progress.

As an accredited graduate psychologist, process-orientated psychologist (PROCESSWORK UK), ICF Master Certified Coach, European Certified Psychotherapist (EAP), Coaching Supervisor (ESIA, EMCC) with teaching experience at the Vinzenz Pallotti University, I will accompany you in an appreciative, empathetic and equal manner.

You will receive detailed, constructive feedback on your own coaching sessions (live, via audio recording or transcript), always in line with the ICF competences.

All Mentor Coaching hours are transparently documented and verified for your certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coaching and mentor coaching differ fundamentally in terms of objectives, target group and methodology – especially according to the standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC).

Coaching promotes the development of the client in a personal or professional context, while Mentor Coaching specifically supports the professional development of coaches through feedback and reflection on their own coaching competences on the basis of coaching sessions (live or recorded) – especially in the context of certification processes according to ICF and EMCC.

Mentor coaching and coaching supervision are both essential formats for the professional development of coaches and share many basic principles such as ethics, reflection, feedback and contractual clarity.

The key difference lies in the focus: while mentor coaching specifically aims to develop and provide feedback on coaching competences, coaching supervision focuses on reflection on the coach’s self, the impact of the work and dealing with contexts and systems.

Both formats complement each other and are indispensable for sustainable development and quality assurance in coaching.

Neither coach nor mentor coach are protected terms, which means that anyone can call themselves a coach, regardless of whether they have completed training or further education.

With this in mind, it is particularly important to check what training, qualifications, experience and accreditation a mentor coach has. This provides at least basic information as to whether the mentor coach is undergoing continuous further training and has demonstrated his or her knowledge and expertise in the examinations associated with the accreditations. According to the ICF, if the mentor coach is at the same accreditation level, he or she must have already undergone re-accreditation after 3 years or already hold the next higher accreditation.

What my clients say

We worked through many issues, both interpersonal relational issues with my partner of 20 years, as well as more recently with professional challenges that Peter encouraged a courageous and more adventurous approach to act bravely in dealing with and ultimately resolving complex cultural and embedded power systems. The sessions have always been open, sometimes playful, warm, spontaneous and always curious. I have no hesitation in recommending Peter
